In a city where the presence of green is diminishing at an alarming rate, Shatotto remains one of those unconventional architectural firms that are focused on “architecture for a green living”. With its inception in 1995, Shatotto gained national and international fame, receiving accolades for its unique, eco-friendly designs. This Dhaka-based architectural firm is headed by Rafiq Azam, the principal architect of the company.
One of the driving forces of Shatotto is the zeal for unearthing Bengal’s lost heritage and history. Urban, yet closer to nature than any other firm; Shatotto seeks to rebuild the bridge that once connected Bengal’s rural and urban cultures. The current crisis of architectural values is one of the firm’s utmost concerns as it tackles it through the practice of responsible architecture.
Besides undertaking construction projects of great repute, Shatotto works towards generating conversation among people, communities and decision makers towards a common goal of a green, eco-friendly society.
